In CNC machining, the path of the tool position relative to the workpiece is called the machining route. When programming, the main principles for determining the processing route are as follows:
1) The processing route must ensure the accuracy and surface roughness of the processed parts and ensure high efficiency.
2) Make numerical calculations simple and reduce programming workload.
3) The processing route should be the shortest to reduce program segments and empty tool time. Determine whether the machining will be done in one pass or multiple passes and whether down milling or up milling will be used during the milling process.
For point control CNC machine tools, it only requires high positioning accuracy and the positioning process is as fast as possible, regardless of the path of the tool relative to the workpiece. Therefore, such machine tools should arrange the tool path according to the shortest free path. In addition, the axial movement dimensions of the tool must also be determined. The size is mainly determined by the hole depth of the machined part, but some auxiliary dimensions should also be considered, such as the lead-in distance of the tool, overtravel, etc.
